What are year-end gifts?

Year-end gifts are the gifts South African companies give staff and clients in November and December — usually curated gift boxes, hampers, or premium branded items — to close the year with a thank-you. Staff gifts mark the year's work; client gifts protect next year's relationship. Brandful curates, brands, packs, and delivers year-end gifts nationwide, with no minimum order and production running right through December.

The differentiator

Yes, we work through December

The branded-merchandise industry has a December habit: order books close mid-November, and anyone who briefs later gets told “January.” Brandful doesn't do that. We produce and deliver right through December — because year-end gifting decisions get made late in real companies, and punishing you for it is a strange business model.

One honest caveat: working through December doesn't suspend physics. Popular items sell out at supplier level in Q4, and couriers get slower the closer you get to the holidays. Early orders get first pick of stock and relaxed timelines. Late orders get our best — genuinely — but from what's still on the shelf.

Brief early because it's better, not because we'll turn you away.

When should you order year-end gifts?

If gifts must land before your office closes, tell us the closure date in the brief and we work backwards from it on the quote.

September–October

The smart window

Full stock choice, standard pricing, zero stress. Budget sign-off is usually the bottleneck — start it now.

November

Still comfortable

Standard turnaround (3–5 working days from artwork approval, plus 3–5 working days for delivery) lands well before office closures.

December

Possible — that’s the point of us

Stock is confirmed item-by-item, timelines quoted honestly, rush production (24 hours, no layout approval) and overnight delivery available at a charge.

The two ways year-end gifts go wrong

The first failure is the panic buy: budget gets approved on 25 November, someone orders whatever's available, and 300 staff receive a gift that visibly says whatever was available. A year of work, thanked with leftovers.

The second is quieter: the client gift that doesn't happen. December relationships run on small signals, and the account that gets nothing notices — usually around the time your competitor's hamper arrives on their desk. Client year-end gifting isn't generosity; it's renewal insurance priced at a fraction of one deal.

Both failures have the same fix: decide the budget early, brief once, and let the gifts be someone else's production problem.

Year-end gift ideas by budget

Typical ranges, confirmed on quote. Staff and client tiers can run in one brief with one artwork approval.

Entry — R75–R200 per person

Branded drinkware or notebook-and-treat combos.

The large-team tier that still lands as a real gift.

Core — R200–R500

Curated year-end boxes — drinkware, treats, and a useful branded item, gift-packed with a message card.

The company-wide standard.

Premium — R500–R1,200

Hampers and executive boxes — premium items, quality consumables, gift-grade packaging.

The client and leadership tier.

Executive — R1,200+

Curated key-client hampers and premium branded goods.

For the relationships that carry the business.

Staff gifts and client gifts are different jobs

Staff gifts

They say we noticed the year you had — they work best generous in usefulness rather than extravagance, and identical across the team (nothing breeds January resentment like tiered staff gifts).

Client gifts

They say we value next year — graded deliberately: core clients get the standard box, key accounts get the executive tier. The grading is a commercial decision worth five minutes with your account list.

Brandful quotes both tracks in one brief.

Year-end is the biggest line in a recurring gifting calendar. Companies that run gifting through a private corporate store lock the ranges and budgets once — then every year-end after that starts in October instead of a panic.

Year-end gift FAQs

The questions companies ask us most often about year-end gifting.

When should companies order year-end gifts in South Africa?

+
September and October give the best stock choice and relaxed timelines. November is still comfortable. December orders are possible with Brandful — production runs through the month — with stock and delivery confirmed item-by-item on the quote.

Do you really take orders in December?

+
Yes. Brandful produces and delivers right through December. Popular items do sell out at supplier level in Q4, so late orders choose from confirmed available stock, with timelines quoted honestly.

How much should we spend on year-end gifts?

+
Typical staff gifts run R200–R500 per person company-wide; client gifts run R500–R1,200 with executive hampers at R1,200+ for key accounts. Exact pricing is confirmed on quote within 24 hours.

What is a good year-end gift for staff?

+
A curated box of things people actually use — quality drinkware, a useful branded item, and good consumables — identical across the team, with a message card that names the year. Extravagance is optional; usefulness isn’t.

Should client gifts be branded?

+
Lightly. A branded ribbon, sleeve, or single branded item inside an otherwise premium box reads as a gift; a box of logos reads as marketing. We’ll propose the balance per tier.

Is there a minimum order for year-end gifts?

+
No — from one key-client hamper to full company rollouts. Your first branding position is free; additional positions carry a R400 setup fee, itemised on your quote.

Can you deliver gifts directly to clients or remote staff?

+
Delivery to your office or to individual addresses is quoted per brief — standard delivery runs 3–5 working days nationwide, overnight at a charge. Give us the closure or arrival deadline and the quote works backwards from it.

What happens if we brief you in mid-December?

+
Send it anyway. Rush production (24 hours, artwork prints as supplied — no layout approval step) plus overnight delivery covers genuine emergencies. What’s possible gets confirmed on the quote, not promised on the page.
